Michele Mills, CPA
Principal
Michele joined Deleon and Stang in 2017 as a principal in the firm’s audit department. She has been in public accounting for nearly over 35 years, serving clients in Frederick and surrounding areas in Maryland. She specializes in working with non-profit organizations and governmental units. She has years of experience working with federal award programs and performing audits in accordance with Government Auditing Standards as well as Single audits.
Michele has audit experience working with local municipalities—both large and small governments. In addition to audit services, Michele helps the firm to provide consulting and technical assistance. She helps organizations ensure compliance with the Uniform Guidance for entities expending more than $750,000 in federal awards.
Michele is one of the founding board members of Woman to Woman Mentoring, Inc., and serves as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee for the Organization. She assisted with their 501 c3 application and is proud to have helped them receive tax-exempt status in just 33 days!
Michele also served on the Frederick Community College Foundation’s Board of Directors from 2013–2021.
Michele has spoken numerous times to the Accounting Association at Frostburg State University, her alma mater, discussing career opportunities in accounting. In 2016, she received the All-Star Do-Gooder Award, recognizing the good work that she has done in her local community.
Currently residing in her hometown of Frederick, Maryland, Michele has two adult children, Emily and Nick. Outside of the office, she most enjoys spending time reading and relaxing on the beach.
