See a Need, Meet a Need: DeLeon and Stang Team Volunteers at Shepherd’s Table
SILVER SPRING, MD, January 2020—In one of the most affluent areas in the United States, homelessness and food insecurity can easily be overlooked. DeLeon & Stang has offices in the heart of that area, but they aren’t looking the other way. The opposite, DeLeon & Stang is keeping open eyes to the need around them. DeLeon and Stang team members Kelly Phelps, Diana Contreras, Jennifer Kolden, Saidu Hashim-Cole, Nico Hylton, and Jackie Pearce saw a need and decided to put a dent in it by volunteering their time preparing and serving meals at Shepherd’s Table, a long-standing, local non-profit in Silver Springs, MD.
Shepherd’s Table is an organization that provides free meals, social services, medical support, clothing, and other assistance to people in the D.C Metro Area that are homeless or in need. Since opening in 1983 as a soup kitchen, Shepherd’s Table has grown into a full-fledged basic care center and continues to serve Montgomery County, never missing a meal since its doors opened.
