Leesburg, VA, May 2023—DeLeon & Stang’s very own Justin Mikol will complete the Leadership Loudoun program in May 2023, capping off nine months of participation in Loudoun County’s premier development program for emerging leaders in business. This opportunity builds on Mikol’s experience at DeLeon & Stang and opens up the door to making more community connections.

Mikol cites the encouragement of leadership at DeLeon & Stang as the reason why he decided to apply for Leadership Loudoun.

“When our people have opportunities to grow, DeLeon & Stang has opportunities to grow,” says Brad Hoffman. “We’re happy to encourage folks like Justin to reach for new heights in programs like Leadership Loudoun.”

This was how Mikol ended up as one of a diverse group of both fresh and experienced leaders tapped to be part of Leadership Loudoun this year.

The Leadership Loudoun program runs from September to May. It focuses on leadership development across all business sizes—small businesses, larger corporations, and everything in between. The curriculum examines local county issues, with students engaging in readings, discussion groups, problem-solving exercises, talks with experts, visiting local sites, and more. During the program, they also have the opportunity to meet for an overnight retreat and monthly full-day sessions and collaborate on small group projects.

As a Loudoun County local of 13 years and resident of Leesburg, Mikol says he “...wanted to feel a stronger connection to the area” by participating in Leadership Loudoun. Mikol said developing a connection with the community and putting in the work to make the county “feel like Mayberry” was one of his primary goals. Mikol recognized that he often drove by local businesses and attractions but never had the chance to stop. Now, he wants to get out there and try something new. “Leadership Loudoun has helped me develop a stronger connection with the community that I call HOME. “

Leadership Loudoun not only gave him the tools to know how to tackle big ideas, but it also helped him make personal connections as well. Mikol says, “DeLeon & Stang and Leadership Loudoun have helped me to gain the confidence to try new things, communicate effectively, and have a better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses.”

After graduation, Mikol says, “I plan on finding ways and ideas to get myself and D&S involved with supporting local businesses related to firm events and activities.”
