Assess Your Needs
Next, assess your needs. During this step, take inventory of your team’s strengths and weaknesses by meeting with key stakeholders within your team. This will help you understand where you are and what will be needed to meet your goals.
Map Out an Ideal Candidate
Through the goal-setting and assessment process, you’ve been able to fine-tune what jobs need to be filled. Now it is time to turn that information into your ideal candidate. Look at your goals and team’s inventory assessment and consider what skills, experience, and temperament would best fit the position to map out an ideal candidate. This map will later serve as a rubric when evaluating candidates to see how each candidate stacks up against your goals and needs.
Creating & Posting an Effective Job Description
It is finally time to write your job description. Looking back at the map of the ideal candidate, write a job description. Your job description should include the skills and experience you’ve previously mapped out, but remember, job descriptions are meant to inform AND attract. Be sure to also include information about your company, culture, and benefits.
