MARYLAND, November 10, 2020—DeLeon & Stang promoted eight employees to higher positions within the firm and also welcomed two new employees in 2020.
Kristen Lamont joined as a Staff Auditor, and Liliana Pico joined as an Administrative Assistant. Formerly an Administrative Assistant herself, Erin Clegg was promoted to Marketing Coordinator.
Viviana Madronero began with the firm as a Tax Intern and was promoted to Staff Accountant—the same level that Todd Hershey, Allyson Thomas, and Shan Chiu were at before their promotions. Todd and Allyson were promoted from Staff Accountants to In-Charge Accountants, while Shan was promoted from Staff Auditor to In-Charge Auditor.
Danny Rossomondo, CPA, Chris Stang, and Jackie Pearce, CPA continued their journeys through the firm as well. Danny and Chris were promoted from the In-Charge level to the Supervisor level, and Jackie was promoted from Audit Supervisor to Senior Auditor.
Building on Strengths
The new In-Charge employees—Todd, Allyson, and Shan—are each responsible for being the point person on their team.
“This is a big step forward for me, and I feel that my experiences at DeLeon & Stang have prepared me to step into my new role with confidence,” Todd said.
Allyson agreed:
“DeLeon & Stang’s training program is robust—it really equips you to handle all kinds of scenarios. They believe in you and truly want you to succeed.”
Shan added:
“It’s great that the firm promoted the three of us at the same time. We can support and learn from each other.”
Raising the Bar
Danny and Chris, the firm’s newly appointed Supervisors, plan to use the skills they gained while they were In-Charge to help both the firm and their teammates grow.
“It’s really important to keep moving forward and expanding on your existing skillset,” Danny said. “Especially when everyone around you is doing the same.”
Chris agreed:
“For sure. You’ve got to keep pushing yourself. Every day I see my peers at DeLeon & Stang pushing themselves to do their best, and it inspires me to do my best in return.”
Jackie said she could relate:
“When I entered my role as a Supervisor, it was a whole new world for me even though I already had strong skills as an auditor. It was challenging at times to learn the new skills I needed, but the DeLeon & Stang family was there to support me the whole way.”
In her new role as a Senior Auditor, Jackie looks forward to giving junior auditors the same support she received.
Welcoming Change
Erin agreed that the support of her team led to her recent successes. First hired in 2017 as an Administrative Assistant, she took a big step up to Marketing Coordinator in 2020.
“I’m excited to bring my customer service skills into the marketing sphere,” said Erin. “DeLeon & Stang has been very encouraging and supportive of my career growth, and I look forward to spreading the word about the firm’s employee-centric values through their marketing materials.”
Learning Fast
Sharing Erin’s eagerness to grow and learn, Viviana started her journey with DeLeon & Stang as a Tax Intern and was thrilled to be welcomed as a full-time Staff Accountant.
“Determination, patience, fairness, and persistence have been crucial to my success as I began pursuing a career in accounting,” Viviana said. “DeLeon & Stang shares my values and I can’t think of a better firm to begin my journey with.”
Viviana grew up in Columbia and came to the US when she was 22 years old. After earning 2 degrees in Graphic Design and Business Administration, she decided to earn 2 more degrees in Accounting because she knows that there is always going to be a need for accountants—no matter where you live or how the economy is doing.
Outside of her accounting work, Viviana enjoys the camping life. When she’s not camping, she’s enjoying the company of her husband (a Costa Rican native), her 2 stepdaughters, her son, and their 2 very cute dogs. She also enjoys expressing her creative side through cross-stitching, painting, drawing, and graphic design.
Beginning a New Journey
Like Viviana, Liliana was also compelled to enter the world of accounting. In December 2020, she will graduate from the University of Maryland Global Campus with a BA in Accounting and a Minor in Business Administration. Prior to joining DeLeon & Stang’s administrative team, she worked for State Farm Agents in customer service and relations for over 6 years.
“Supporting such a tight-knit accounting team will help prepare me for my own career in accounting,” Liliana said. “I intend to put in 110% and learn all I can.”
When she’s not working, Liliana enjoys going camping, going to the beach, and spending time with her family. She lives in Gaithersburg, MD with her husband and children.
Continuing a Family Tradition
Kristen said that she didn’t simply choose to become an accountant—it runs in her blood. Her mother was an accountant, and her grandfather was an accounting professor. She began in the accounting profession in 2000 and brings with her many years of experience working in the fields that DeLeon & Stang’s client base is comprised of.
“The first controller I worked for had a great motto: ‘If you make me look good, I’ll make you look good,’” Kristen said. “I’ve kept that attitude throughout my career, and I’m excited to begin working for a firm that shares my drive to create win-win situations.”
A Maryland native, Kristen lives in Frederick, MD with her husband, her daughter, and her 3 stepchildren. They have a blind dog named Sarge who is as old as he is adorable. In her free time, Kristen enjoys reading books by Jodi Picoult, listening to podcasts about the U.S. criminal justice system, and spending time with her family.
